The Medical Task Force COVID-19 rejected that the 500 tests to detect the coronavirus or COVID-19 have been lost as indicated in a letter published today.

According to the group appointed by the governor to work with the virus situation on the island, after receiving the tests, the recommendation was made for their distribution, Telenoticias reported.

The Task Force also noted that the test distribution plan was prepared by the Department of Health, the Emergency Management Bureau and the National Guard.

Likewise, they indicated that the tests were distributed among nine hospital institutions.

The expressions arise after the publication of a letter where allegedly the former acting secretary of the Department of Health, Concepción Quiñones de Longo, reported that she had no knowledge of the whereabouts of tests to detect the coronavirus or COVID-19.

"We do not know the whereabouts of the 500 'test kits" "and" the Laboratory of the Department of Health has not received them to proceed with the corresponding registration and use, "the letter read.

The doctor also stated in the letter that: "We notified the manager of Quest Diagnostics, Mr. Manuel Ribas that we will not be able to pay."

"We must not allow the use of funds and resources destined to the health service of Puerto Rico to be put at risk. Uniform administrative processes must prevail," he added.
